I’ve been very happy with my K1 Max printer. It just finished running for almost a week straight to do a job that had a tight timeline, and had the decency to suffer an unfixable hotend clog right at the end. It’s like it held on just long enough to finish before finally giving up.
I’ve been running the original stock hotends on it and got a replacement upgrade hotend and nozzle today so I got to work. Swapping it out didn’t take long, and I took the time to give everything a once-over, too. I really like the upgrade nozzle/hotend combination – the unicorn style looks like it will be so much easier to do nozzle changes or clearings, and there’s no longer a short length of PTFE tubing between the hotend and the extruder.
Now that everything’s back together, cleaned and greased, and the bed is a little more level, I’ve got it printing a Giant Rex. That takes up most of the bed, is a long print so there’s plenty of time for extrusion/adhesion/alignment problems to show themselves, and if it comes off the bed perfectly, then I’ve got a good print to go into stock. The whole two birds with one stone kind of thing.
Tomorrow I plan to head in to North Forge to spend some time lasering some more Fibonacci clock faces and etching some logos into acrylic for another project. Should be a good day!
